Diana was also able to update us on the findings from the most recent health clinic. 490 children received a worming treatment and 35 treatment for malaria. Treatment not only helps those affected but also reduces transferability – similarly whilst overall fungal infections, ringworm and skin infections had reduced last term, a number of new pupils had reported with these conditions this term and received treatment. Nurse Sarah noted a rise in urinary tract infections amongst the older girls which she attributes to hygiene issues so on her next visit she will give them a health talk. As 25 children were found to have infected wounds the trustees have asked Sarah to set up a school first aid kit and provide training for the staff on using it for cuts and minor injuries.
