The Ugandan general elections in January have disrupted Christmas because the schools had to close a week earlier than anticipated and gatherings of any kind needed to cease because they could be taken over as opportunities to canvas for votes – plus the internet will be closed for a month from mid-December.  However Milton was able to ensure all the Jackie School celebrations took place before the restrictions were put in place and all the children were very happy to receive their new clothes.  The community came together for an early Christmas party too.  This all happened because of sponsors and supporters’ tremendous generosity – the Christmas Appeal raised £1300 – enabling more new clothes, a better meal for more people and there will be gifts of salt, soap, sugar and tea for all the older and disabled people in the villages.  Thank you!

Now the term has ended – this was the final assembly – and the holiday lunch club will run for the next eight weeks to ensure  every child has access to at least some good meals.
