September 2024 Newsletter

The school holiday lunch club for the most needy children ran for three days each week at Jackie School during the recent holidays, providing a much needed hot meal and the chance to play.

. The lunch club was part- funded through an online ‘masterclass’ run by one of our sponsors for her business contacts – a very welcome addition to our funds.  We have also been fortunate to secure some further funding so that we can run the lunch club through the longer, eight week, Christmas holidays. Some of the children sent letters and pictures via Whats App to inspire a school which has offered support.

The crowded curriculum during the term time doesn’t allow for this sort of activity but the writing and drawing really made a contact. (That’s a tethered cow!) We would also like to thank Henllys Rotary Club for their support.

Terri and Chris are home from Uganda – Terri’s diary is on the website – in the ‘New’s section https://www.3huganda.org/general-clean.  We have a Board Meeting booked for 5th October to discuss the various findings from their trip – lots of ideas for expanding some of our work and redefining our priorities – which we will share in due course.

Whisper it quietly – it’s time to think about our Christmas Appeal.  Back in 2021 we bought new blankets for each child – and Milton says these are, not surprisingly, now worn out!  We have secured a generous contribution from a local Bristol Rotary club but need to raise a further £875 to ensure all the children in Kyemula receive a blanket.  Donations would be very welcome
