Thanks to everyone who was able to Gift Aid their donations – we have received £7,300 this year.  Usually, we hold most of the Gift Aid in reserve for unexpected expenditure and crises but this year we will be spending a proportion of it on an addition to the Community Home in Kyemula.

.  Milton says that the current provision is overcrowded and had asked if we could consider building more rooms.  Our friends at Emilie’s Charities have kindly contributed over half the cost and work has already started to ensure more vulnerable people in Kyemula can be safely housed.  So nice to start the year with good news!

And more positive news from Jackie School.  The Primary Leaving Exam results have been published and our pupils exceeded expectations. Fifteen of the eighteen pupils achieved Division 2 passes, and three Division 3.  To achieve Division 2 pupils must get between 75-89% on four papers in maths, English, science, and social studies, while Division 3 indicates scores of 60-74%. To put this in context nationally 91,990 children, 11.39 per cent of the total, achieved Division I. 388,293 candidates (48.49 per cent) werein in the Division 2, while Division 3 accounted for 165,226 candidates, and 84,724 were graded in Division 4 - a troubling total of 77,080 learners (9.55 per cent) failed to meet the minimum marks required for grading.

This year’s results are the best ever for Jackie School and Milton praised the teachers for their efforts and thanked 3H for their input too.  We have given each pupil a small amount of cash to help them purchase the items necessary to start secondary school on 16/2/2026 or to start their adult lives.  The parents/guardians and teachers joined with 3H in wishing them all the best and shared some ‘sodas and bites’.

One final piece of good news - the Interact Club at Croesyceiliog School in Cwmbran have  again sold Valentine’s roses to raise funds for menstrual cups – the whole school got involved and, boosted by Diana’s video clip on Facebook - £600 was raised.  The Interact Club are an inspiring group of young people!
