This is the final component of the phonics store in the recently completed building at Jackie School. It seems shelves are not a regular part of life in Mbale and we were unable to find an ‘off the shelf’ solution to the storage of the carefully crafted materials! However, the local carpenter who makes the school desks was able to make these splendid units which were delivered at the end of term.
Milton’s son, Willy, who teaches at Jackie School has taken on the role of running the Holiday Lunch Club and sent these photo’s of the children playing with balls and then enjoying drinks and snacks.
. You might notice that some of the children are barefoot – Milton alerted us to the fact that a number of the children are again without shoes, and we have committed to another fundraiser in 2026 to address this issue. More details to follow!
96 older and disabled Kyemula residents gathered on 23rd December to receive practical gifts of sugar, soap, salt, tea leaves and rice with 20 also receiving blankets – It’s so lovely to see the ladies in their traditional gomes
