Phonics Feedback

THE PHONICS COURSE HAS HAPPENED!!

Nine of our teachers attended the three-day course in Mbale earlier this week. Despite the rush to make the necessary preparations everything ran smoothly – the trainers arrived on Sunday evening and booked into their B&B. The course began on Monday morning with snacks and lunches provide in the training room.

As you can see the course was interactive with our teachers taking the role of both pupils and instructors as they practised a range of techniques for embedding the sounds and phonemes which cause Ugandan children problems when learning English – both verbally and in its written form.

We have bought the teachers the training manuals and also six sets of the first stage reading books for the children – there are two further stages which we will need to buy (each at a cost of £180 for six sets) in due course. But we have made a start!
